Size is only one part of cost
Overall dimensions affect material and labour, but form and construction can matter just as much. Curves, cantilevers, deep profiles, mixed materials, complex junctions and pieces that must divide for access all add technical work.
Materials change both appearance and method
Solid timber, veneer, PU, stone, metal, glass, fabric, leather, hardware and specialist surfaces have different costs and installation requirements. The quality and specification within each category also vary.
Material should be selected for the design and use of the piece, not simply moved up or down as a price label. A well-judged specification can protect the visual intention while keeping expenditure focused where it matters.
The quotation should include the real project
Drawings, sampling, site verification, transport, packing, carrying, assembly and installation may form part of the complete requirement. Clients should understand what is included, what remains provisional and what site conditions could affect the final scope.
