Minnoli began in Kolkata in 2004 with Meenu Narula and a clear idea of how furniture should be made.
At the time, clients looking for well-designed furniture were often asked to choose between what was available in a showroom and what could be interpreted by a local carpenter. Meenu saw room for something more considered: furniture developed with the client, made under one roof and followed closely from the first drawing to the final finish.
That idea became Minnoli.
Over the following two decades, Meenu built the company around its workshop and the people within it. What began with a small team grew into a furniture house supported by more than one hundred craftsmen working across carpentry, polishing, upholstery, metalwork and finishing. Several have spent a significant part of their working lives with Minnoli.
Every client meets Meenu.
She spends time understanding their home, their requirements and the way they would like the space to feel. Floor plans, drawings, 3D views and references become part of that conversation, helping her understand the client’s design preferences as well as the practical needs of the space.
From there, ideas are developed together. Drawing on more than two decades of experience, Meenu and the team guide clients through proportion, comfort, materials, fabrics and finishes, while remaining attentive to what feels personal to them. The conversation remains open throughout, allowing every decision to be considered carefully and every piece to take shape with a clear understanding of where it will finally be placed.
The process continues through drawings, site measurements, material and fabric selection, production, finishing and installation. Behind every completed piece is the combined judgement of the design team, the experience of the workshop and the skill of the craftsmen who make it.
